Perfect Fall day for wonderful hunt from Yorkfield again. Thank you Balan for jumping in as trusty steed for our huntsman after Hannah's incident. Glad to have so many riders from Yorkfield Stables as well ... great to have Karen & Jay, and of course Jess, join us.

The rain held off for a wonderful meet. All of our new junior foxhunters did great! We had 12 junior guests that were new to foxhunting. They and their horses all did great! Some rode First Field and some enjoyed the slower pace of Hilltop Field. We had nice, long outing. Thank you Junior Guests of Honor!

Perfect day for a large field of teams competing in our annual Hunter Pace to raise funds for Conservation. We had 24 teams, 56 riders at Fine Nest Farm in Raymond. Ribbons were awarded to the top six teams in Field and Hilltop Divisions. This year we will be donating money to Bear-Paw Regional Greenways, Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire, and Moose Mountain Regional Greenways. One of the goals of this pace is to raise awareness and funds for conservation in our area ... without the open space and our generous landowners, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to ride in so many lovely territories. Thank you to all for supporting this pace! Jess Kennedy's team won the Field Division & Sandy Engelsman's team won the Hilltop.

The first hunter pace of the season was held at Branch Hill Farm, Milton Mills. Great weather, great turnout. Thank you riders!

We were very happy to be invited to make a presentation at the first annual Myhre Equine Fair / Kentucky Derby Day. Ann Wicander, MFH, made a presentation about drag hunting, she is flanked here by honorary member and staff member Krista Trefethen, Walker Greenwell, and Cindy Jenkins.

Our annual dressage school show, at UNH, was held the last Sunday of April.

Congratulations Sue Levy, Krista Trefethen & Cody Cramer for taking 1st Place in the Team Competition. Sue also took the blue ribbon in the Senior Qualified Division, amidst stiff competition, and Krista took a fifth place ribbon in the large Open Division. Cindy Jenkins' granddaughter Marley competed in the new Novice Division. Thank you to all Wentworth Members and Friends who came to compete, to fence judge, and to cheer on our jumpers! Fence judges included: Liz Esmiol, Walker Greenwell, Pooh Vanderzanden. Thank you Julie Krupa, Terry Monks, and Linda Saba for coming up to cheer us on. cold, blustery, rainy morning ... those that braved the weather had an excellent hunt. hounds were right on.

We were very happy to host New Hampshire’s television news magazine NH Chronicle (WMUR), joining us for our hunt at Prodigue Farm, Rochester. Many members will remember that Sara Edwards from the Chronicle rode with the hunt at Applehurst Farm, Epping, over a decade ago.

The opening of formal season begins with the traditional "Blessing of the Hounds" ceremony, this year officiated by Rev. Sue LeSueur. Riders and guests were greeted as music from the French horn duet in Harlow's Folly filled the air. Excitement was already in the air as riders and horses prepared for this great annual event at Carpenter's Yorkfield Farm, Kensington. Rochester Times editor John Nolan was on hand, as he is writing a series of articles about foxhunting in New England, including the Wentworth Hunt. Riders made a great opening jump loop and then circled back around the polo field to regroup and then head across Drinkwater Road to the large hay field, greeted by bagpiper Judy Carey (her husband Ron a longtime Wentworth hunter). Riders had a rest from the long hunt at the stirrup cup at Tonry's Christmas Tree Farm, and then hacked back to Yorkfield for a wonderful tea hosted by Barbara Carpenter.

Thank you Kelly Perkins for hosting us at your lovely territory ... and to all the adjacent landowners that make it possible to hunt from Cartland Road in Lee.

Thank you Harlow & Barbara Carpenter for being longtime supporters of the Wentworth Hunt, and for hosting us for the Blessing of the Hounds and our opening meet of the formal season for some time. Members love the Kensington, NH, fixture. We are appreciative of the adjacent landowners generosity and enjoy the jumps, farm-machinery sculptures dotting the perimeter of the track and polo field, love the trek through the tall pines surrounding the campground, the lovely country road walks, the fine hill along North Road, the gallops up the lanes at the Tonry Christmas Tree Farms ... and so much more.
