Climbs in NW Argentina: Chani, Antofalla, Cachi, Acay, Salin, etc. We undettook an excvation of the looted Inca site on Chani in 2000.

Solo ascents in 1981 of Ojos del Salado & nearby peaks: Incahuasi, Cazadero (Walter Penck), Nacemiento, & Aguas Calientes.

First expedition to the Hidden Crater (also called the Caldera del Inca) south of Ojos del Salado in Argentina (1986). The crater rim is at 18,000' and we carried gear 1,200' down to a 5 km long lake and collected plankton samples. Peaks climbed that surround the crater include Pissis, Bonete, Veladero and Reclus, the latter two with Inca ruins on their summits.

The Yawar Fiesta involves the capture and tying of a condor on a bull that is then used in a bullfight. The condor is traditionally believed by indigenous peoples to represent the mountain god and the fiesta relates to the fertility of the coming year. The first images are of the condor's capture, followed by normal bullfighting, then the condor is used,, followed by a parade and the two condors being let free.

Lines and figures drawn in the sand (geoglyphs) near Nazca in Peru and images of artifacts and associated sites in the region. Most images of the geoglyphs were taken in the early 1980s before they were swept clean for better viewing, while some (so noted) were taken November, 2008.
