On March 7, 2009 we took a drive down to Mt. Morris to visit the New Deal Art Gallery on the Livingston County Campus, which Sandy had seen advertised in a travel brochure. In addition to the collection of WPA Art Project paintings on display in the New Deal Gallery we discovered that they have an amazing selection of Soviet-era propaganda art from the "bad old days" of the USSR in the adjoining "Apartment 1 Gallery". Pretty cool stuff- but "existing light only" photos - you'll have to visit their website to get a better look!
Between the ages of 6 and 18 I spent most of my summers camping at Stony Brook with my parents and my brother Rick. These photos appear in order as I hiked-up the Gorge Trail in the park. There has been a lot of rain and it appears that gravel and other debris washed-down the gorge have cleaned it of much of the algae that takes residence on the rocks in the summer. On this day it was as clean as I remember it in the 1950s!
