Michael flew in from Chicago and we met in Denver. Itinerary included stops through Manitou Springs and Pikes Peak, Georgetown and Mount Evans, Garden of the Gods, and the Royal Gorge.

Wine Tasting tour weekend with my cousin, Kimberly. We also stopped by the lavender festival in Blanco, Texas. Stayed in Live Oak neighborhood outside of San Antonio.

Kim and I wandered over to Bellaire to check out the Asian markets in Chinatown. We ate dim sum at Ocean Palace, not at Fung's Kitchen where we had originally intended. The grocery store at Hong Kong market is jaw-dropping.

The Forbidden Gardens is a local destination recommended to me by RoadsideAmerica.com. None of my friends or acquaintances were familiar with this little place. Essentially, the gardens are a vision brought to life by mogul Ira P.H Poon who wanted to bring Chinese culture to his family and those in America. Here you can discover the mysteries of Imperial China, or why women, in order to marry, bound their feet in 4 inch "shoes."
