Phi Phi, Thailand
11/16/09 (30 photos)
Along the outskirts of Thailand, surrounded by the Andaman Sea, lies a beautiful assortment of tranquil islands. This album consists of capturing the tranquility found across the various terrains. During the trip I took daily treks (hikes) through the rainforest covered mountains to more secluded beaches on the other side of Phi Phi. Some treks lasted 7 hours. I also had the chance to chill out and swim on the beach where "The Beach," staring Leonardo DeCaprio, was filmed. I also completed two dives with Leopard Sharks. I've got to get an underwater camera!!! Peace and love, Dave
Sunda Kelapa - One of Jakarta's Ports
9/3/09 (36 photos)
On Sept 22, during the early Saturday morning hours, some friends/colleagues and I took a little stroll through the Northern Jakarta Sea Port called, Sunda Kelapa. The stroll was invigorating from multiple perspectives. Indonesians continue to fill my heart and lens with smiles. The first photograph was taken by my great friend and esteemed photographer, Mr Scotty Graham. The others document what I saw during a magical 3 hour tour. Peace and love, Dave
Saas Fee, Switzerland...
4/16/09 (25 photos)
My past Spring Break was spent with some fantastic friends chaperoning a group of amazing skiing and snowboarding JIS students to Saas Fee, Switzerland. While the kid photos are fun I only included a group photo taken by Scott Chamberlain. I rather chose to focus on the majestic grandeur of the Swiss Alps. The weather was great and the powder plentiful. But most importantly… I didn’t break anything. Peace and Love, Dave

1/12/09 (21 photos)
Michelle Cameron, from SW Florida, came for “way too short” Indonesian Adventure. This album focuses on the Jakarta Skyline (seen from MONAS “The National Monument”) and the interior of a very interesting Jakarta mall called, FX. Peace and Love, Dave
Alien Dreamtime

This year's Jakarta Halloween Party, Alien Dreamtime, was a huge success. Hope you enjoy the photos. Peace and love, Dave
Short Trip to Southern Coastal Thailand Regions
10/6/08 (38 photos)
Last week Dave and I took off for another short holiday, and this time decided to check-out some of Thailand’s coastal regions, namely Ao Nang, Ko Lanta, and Railay Beach. It was a wonderfully relaxing holiday filled with reading (thanks Michelle), eating, and of course some long walks along the beach and into some local villages. This, a much different trip than say… one to Bangkok. The third guy locked in photo history is a good friend, Derrick. He’s an old buddy who I worked with in Egypt and is now contracted in Bangkok. Peace and love, Dave
Bali Beaches - Independence Weekend, Aug 2008
8/19/08 (17 photos)
Indonesia celebrates Independence Day mid-August which is a great little 3-day weekend for the country to enjoy. This year my friend Dave and I spent the weekend on the beaches of Bali, specifically the beaches in between Kuta and Seminyak Beaches. Normally I don’t carry a camera around. Bali is like home. But it was requested I did let everyone see a little bit of my, “2nd Home.” Independence weekend is filled with traditional/cultural celebrations. One unique community celebration called, Panjat Pinang, and attempting to explain is somewhat difficult. Basically the game involves a tall greased wooden pole which is erected into the beach and is there for a group of men to ascend. The strategy is for the men to create a human ladder enabling each human level to gain height eventually resulting in the top man grabbing bags of goodies which he tosses down to the spectators. Other spectacles abound and involve the thousands of local and tourist beachcombers, that is throughout the early morning and deep into the night. On Independence Weekend Bali never stops. Peace and love - Dave
Lake Toba, Indonesia – 2008
3/16/08 (39 photos)
After a 3 hour flight and a 5 hour drive, Chinese New Year was celebrated by reaching, Lake Toba, Indonesia. After arriving and taking an hour ferry, the celebration continued when reaching largest lake island in the world, Samosir. Lake Toba - It is the largest volcanic lake in the world… 100 km long and 30 km wide, and 505 m. (1,666 ft.) at its deepest point, in the middle of the northern part of the Indonesian island of Sumatra with a surface elevation of about 900 m (3,000 feet). At 630km², Samosir Island is also notable as being the largest island within an island, and the fifth largest lake island in the world. The Indonesian inhabitants are called, Bataks. Although I presume a boat hull influence, the unique Batak architecture is rumored to have been designed from sighted alien spaceships. Accompanying a majority of family homes are small ornate spaceship style family tombs. Peace and love - Dave

1/30/08 (50 photos)

Nepal
1/26/08 (72 photos)
21 days in Nepal - What an amazing thought and that much greater when cast into reality. Greg Spechalske, Scotty Graham, Mike Warner, and I spent an amazing 21 days traveling through the majestic sights of Kathmandu, Pokora, and an 11 day trek (beginning 1,000 meters above sea level) which climaxed on New Years Eve at Annapurna Base Camp (4,120 meters above sea level). Enclosed in this photo album is an assortment from 1,200+ taken. The first and last included photos were taken by Scotty Graham. I hope you enjoy. Peace and love - David
AloHalloween - 2007
11/16/07 (48 photos)
After a month's preparation; covering/painting all upstairs wall surfaces, erecting a multi-level dance-floor, and filling the downstairs with 7 tons of sand for an authentic, Beach Blow-Out, the guests arrived and from what I can detect everyone had an excellent time. Hope you enjoy. Peace and love, David
Philippines - Oct, 2007
10/24/07 (44 photos)
Hey Everyone Around the World, Dave and I took off for another wonderful week and this time found ourselves in the Philippines. While we spent a couple fun nights tooling around the capital, Manila, we spent a majority of our holiday with our feet in the sand of Boracay Island. Very chilled and tranquil with a touch of fun nightlife was exactly what the doctor ordered ? seriously. Posted are an assortment of photos I took while passing through and under the sun and palms. Hope you enjoy. Peace and love - Dave
Florida Family Adventure
8/6/07 (33 photos)
The collection of photos found within this album represents the love I have for my family, friends, and Fort Myers, Florida. After two long years away it was wonderful to simply stay stationed for a solid seven weeks to absorb the wonderful people who have each given me the strength, courage, wisdom enough to tackle the life I have chosen. The beach scenes are all of Fort Myers Beach, Florida. The photos of apes and metal enclosures were taken at The Center for the Great Apes, lead by an amazing women, Patti, Ragan. It is difficult to see animals in cages but in the case of these wonderful cousins of ours, it is necessary and 100% appropriate. These apes could never exist in the wilds of Africa and/or Indonesia and Patti has created a stimulating environment of connected enclosures which enables the apes to live their remaining years in dignity. Enjoy and be assured? the next lot of personal photos will most likely be of environments you or I have never seen. Peace and love - David
Thailand
4/2/07 (43 photos)
Bangkok, Thailand was much more than I ever imagined. Dave Suarez and I spent 5 days traveling through the historical and contemporary array of Bangkok treasures. Strolling through the grounds of the Grand Palace as well as gazing upon the majestic 150? Golden-Reclining Buddha were highlights of the adventure. Posted are a small portion of the hundreds of photos taken. Peace and love - David
Jakarta Floods
4/1/07 (49 photos)
The danger has now passed and the Indonesian Society is again operating, but the horrific flooding that hit Jakarta will never be forgotten. Posted are an assortment of photos which I do not claim to have taken, but reflect the flooding and the incredibly positive response by Mindy Weimer and her team of volunteers as well as the directly associated positive attitude of the Indonesian People. Without the incredible contributions of goods and energy by those who can, the affected people would have perished ? the Indonesian Government did very little and will continue to not. Also, remember that a major majority of these people can not swim. A flood is a realistic nightmare. Peace and love ? David
Cambodia
4/1/07 (46 photos)
Siem Reap, Cambodia held a spectacular assortment of photo and educational opportunities. Dave Suarez and I spent 4 magical days exploring Tonel Sap Lake and the breath-taking wonders of Angkor Wat. Posted are a small portion of the hundreds of photos taken while on the adventure. Peace and love - David
New Zealand - New Years - 2007
1/14/07 (46 photos)
New Zealand, the landscape for The Lord of the Rings films, was this year?s destination for bringing in the New Year, 2007. The opportunity to travel this beautiful country arose when close friend, Rosalyn Goh, asked if I would like to travel with her to meet some of her friends and pass through a variety of her old stompin? grounds. For sure, this was an opportunity I couldn?t pass-up. Within this album is an example of what I witnessed during our 12 day adventure. We had a fabulous time and I am very thankful to Ros for providing me with such a spectacular experience. She is one hell of travel partner!!!
Halloween - 2006
11/22/06 (27 photos)
Halloween Night came a little late to Indonesia this year, but never less it was a night for the ghouls and goblins to run, drink, and dance until they dropped.
Shanghai, China
11/21/06 (28 photos)
During my October Break I embarked on a wonderful educational journey to Shanghai, China. Within this album you will find a glimpse of what surrounded me. It was a colorful and magical experience. I never imagined China to be what I discovered. Peace adn love - Dave
Kalimantan, Indonesia
7/9/06 (39 photos)
My brother, Jeremy, and I just completed a wonderful 3 week journey through some of the exciting islands of Indonesia. Our second stop was on Kalimantan which is a portion the 3rd largest island in the world, Borneo (Malaysia constitutes the top portion of Borneo). We were in search of the endangered species, Orang-utan (Orang in Indonesian means, People and utan means, Forest). We found what we were looking for in Tanjung Puting National Park, located in South Central Kalimantan. It has been recorded that within 5 decades the Orang-utan will no longer exist in the wild. Jeremy and I had a spectacular time living on a Klotok (type of Indonesian Boat) for 3 days and traveled up the river, Sungai Kumai deep into the rainforest of Kalimantan. Hope you enjoy the photos of the most amazing little orange guys and gales I have ever witnessed. Peace and love - David
Yogykarta, Indonesia
7/9/06 (23 photos)
My brother, Jeremy, and I just completed a wonderful 3 week journey through some of the exciting islands of Indonesia. Our first stop was in Central Java (Jakarta is located in Eastern Java Island) where recently there was a devastating earthquake which destroyed thousands of homes. I was proud that Jeremy wanted to take time off the tourist itinerary to go into the devastation and donate tents and food which we had purchased. I feel the photos of the earthquake destruction and the valiant Indonesians, who are coping with more stress than most Westerners will ever encounter, are more important to post than the ?tourist photos? we took. After a couple ?tourist photos? the remaining shots are dedicated to the people of Yogyakarta. Peace and love - David
Bali, indonesia
7/9/06 (30 photos)
My brother, Jeremy, and I just completed a wonderful 3 week journey through some of the exciting islands of Indonesia. Our third and final stop was on Bali which is considered one of the most picturesque islands in the world. There is a large concentration of Hindu and the architecture resembles that ancient religion. There is a very strong community feeling on Bali and the local Balinese keep their traditions alive for the world to see. While the beaches and surf are truly amazing, I have focused this selection more towards the ?cultural characteristics? of Bali. Peace and love - David
Nyepi - Hindu Celebration, Bali
4/10/06 (20 photos)
Nyepi is a Hindu holiday during which a 24 hours hiatus is observed and the island of Bali completely shuts down. Completely means that the use of any electronic mechanism (TV, lights, computers, etc?), natural light (candles, fires, lighters, etc?), or movement outside your home (walking on the beach, walking to the store, taking out the trash, etc?) is outlawed. The reason for this absence of energy is so the bad demons will not be able to find the Hindu people of Bali and thusly will depart the island. The night before the Nyeti hiatus there is an extravagant parade of crafted characters called ?Ogoh-Ogoh? with accompanying banging and drumming. This parade is to wake the demons so none sleep through the day when they should be looking for Hindu people to haunt. These photos are of the crafted ?Ogoh-Ogoh.?
