Uploading basics
When uploading photos to your Kodak Gallery account, you are placing an online copy of your photos on the Gallery website. This enables you to view, share and purchase Prints, Mugs, Greeting Cards, Photo Books and many other photo products.
Here are some basics to keep in mind when uploading photos to the Gallery:
- Choose an upload tool. Our preferred upload tools are the best choice for uploading large numbers of photos.
- Make sure your photos are JPEG (.jpg,.jpeg or .jpe) file format. If your photos are not already in this format, you need to convert them.
- Start the upload process by clicking the Upload Photos tab at the top of any page on the Gallery web site. If you are using desktop software to upload your photos, open that software program.
Choosing an upload tool
The method you use to upload photos will depend on these factors:
- Your camera -- digital or film
- Your browser-Internet Explorer, Netscape, Safari, Firefox.
- Your operating system -- Windows or Mac OS
If you are using a digital camera:
- Transfer your photos from your camera to your computer's hard drive.
- Choose an upload tool.
If you are using a film camera:
- We will develop your film, scan the negatives, upload the scanned images to your account and return the negatives to you.

Converting to JPEG files
Most digital cameras save photos as JPEG files. However, before you begin uploading images from your computer's hard drive to the Gallery, make sure that all of the photos you wish to upload are stored as JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg or .jpe) files. The JPEG format allows the Gallery to provide you with the best quality photographic Prints. If your images are saved in a format other than .jpg, .jpeg or .jpe, you can use an image editing application to convert the files. Some of the most popular applications include:
- Adobe Photoshop CS (Professional)
- Adobe Photoshop Elements
- PhotoDeluxe (Consumer)
- Corel PaintShop Pro
Once your photos have been saved as JPEGs, you can upload them to the Gallery.
